It is Maternal Mental Health (MMH)Awareness Week , and the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health has refreshed our Maternal Mental Health Fact Sheet and About Maternal Mental Health web page with updated infographics, statistics, and facts about MMH.
Highlights include:
- Postpartum depression diagnosis rates increased from 9.4% in 2010 to 19.0% in 2021
- Less than 20% of women are screened for maternal depression.
- 20% of women experience maternal anxiety disorders, with the highest rates occurring during early pregnancy (25.5%)
- Updated prevalence rates and facts about bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, and anxiety disorders.
