Jigyna Patel, PMH-C
Jigyna Patel has recently joined the Policy Center to contribute to a new initiative
focused on integrating Community Health Workers into OB clinics to screen and support
perinatal women. With personal experience overcoming postpartum depression,
anxiety, and psychosis, Jigyna’s journey to healing began after the birth of her
unexpected twin pregnancy. In 2021, she discovered Postpartum Support International
(PSI) and began volunteering as a support group leader and peer mentor. This
transformative experience led her to pursue a career in perinatal mental health, earning
her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and certification as a Support Group
Coach through GPS (Group Peer Support). Motivated by her own struggles, she is
passionate about raising awareness and offering support for maternal mental health.
Jigyna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Houston,
and her professional background includes work in Public Relations and Event Planning.
